Allianz Partners, the travel insurance and assistance division of German insurance giant Allianz, announced a global restructuring program in July 2026 targeting the elimination of 1,500–1,800 positions over the next 12–18 months. The restructuring is driven by accelerated automation and AI adoption (chatbots replacing call-center interactions). Romania's service centers, which provide multilingual support for local and European markets, are directly exposed to these reductions. The company's CEO Tomas Kunzmann confirmed the decision, citing cost optimization and operational efficiency. Allianz Partners employs approximately 22,600–23,000 globally, of which ~14,000 handle phone-based customer requests. The company stated it will offer compensation, retraining programs, and internal redeployment support for affected employees.
