Joyson Safety Systems (fosta Takata) Jibou
Joyson Safety Systems (formerly Takata), an American-owned automotive safety components manufacturer, permanently closed its Jibou factory on July 30, 2026, after 15 years of operation (since 2011). The collective dismissal affected 96 employees (initial notification was for 116, but some workers secured alternative employment before the closure). The company cited rising production costs and declining demand for European-manufactured vehicles; employees and local media reported that production is being relocated to Morocco. The closure is part of a broader Joyson Safety Systems restructuring in Romania, which also includes the sale of its Ribița (Hunedoara) facility as operations consolidate around the Arad hub. The Sălaj County Employment Agency (AJOFM) provided pre-dismissal services including job vacancy information, EURES network access, and professional retraining programs. This was the second collective dismissal in Sălaj County in 2026, following a woodworking company closure in Surduc (April 2026, 73 employees).
