Azomureș, the main producer of chemical fertilizers in Romania, placed approximately 600 employees on șomaj tehnic (technical unemployment/furlough). This is a temporary suspension of employment contracts where employees receive 75% of base salary. The measure could affect around 2,500 jobs nationally including contractors, due to uncertainty regarding natural gas supply.
