Swiss company Elma Electronic, a supplier of embedded computing solutions and hardware components, announced a global restructuring plan eliminating ~100 positions by end of 2026, with up to 50 layoffs in April-May 2026 (remainder through natural attrition). Romania operations are affected despite the company simultaneously investing 15+ million euros in a new industrial hub in Timișoara (largest in Europe, 12,000 sqm, expected completion August 2026). The restructuring is driven by low profitability in the Americas and challenging European market conditions. Elma aims to cut ~4 million CHF in operational costs in 2026.
