Chimcomplex, Romania's largest chemical producer, began implementing its restructuring plan in April 2026, dismissing at least 1,200 employees directly and affecting 5,500 more indirectly through partner companies. The company closed energy-intensive sections and three factories (two in Râmnicu Vâlcea, one in Borzești). The decision was driven by a 29% drop in turnover in 2025 (to 1.063 billion RON) and a net loss of 179 million RON due to high energy costs (gas +30%, electricity +15%). The company also halted two PNRR-funded investment projects worth 150 million euros. Owner Ștefan Vuza criticized the government's lack of support for energy-intensive industries. Chimcomplex operates industrial platforms in Onești (Bacău) and Râmnicu Vâlcea, specializing in polyols, chlor-alkalis, and oxo-alcohols.
