Dacia (Uzina Mioveni) confirmed layoffs of approximately 1,200 employees in 2026 due to production reduction, accelerated robotization/automation, and relocation of model production: Dacia Striker to Turkey and a new electric A-segment model to Slovenia. The Renault Group's decision is influenced by Romania's fiscal instability, high energy costs, and lack of infrastructure (Pitești-Sibiu Highway). The plant directly employs ~10,000 people and supports tens of thousands more through suppliers. A voluntary departure program with compensation up to 210,000 lei net was offered. On June 3, 2026, a new voluntary departure program was launched targeting approximately 200 employees from Automobile Dacia and Renault Technologie Roumanie (RTR), with contract terminations effective July 6, 2026. Compensation packages range from 45,000 to 210,000 RON net depending on seniority. This is the third wave of voluntary departures in 2026, following programs in February (~260 posts) and earlier restructuring.
